A big day on the blog today! For a while now I’ve been wanting to do something about the blog’s logo, as I felt it wasn’t really all that appropriate any longer. Hardly a major issue when compared to the general turmoil and issues the world faces at the moment, but in the little corner of the web where I’m busy chiselling out an existence, I try to make my place as appealing as I can.
So I was absolutely gobsmacked when Peter Willis, a Newcastle illustrator I’ve been following for ages agreed to give me a makeover. A makeover in his inimitable style of illustrations that is. Seeing the early “scamps” (I didn’t know either, but this is the word in the trade for sketches) and following the progress was very exciting. I get a huge kick out of seeing people that are good at what they do do their stuff, if you get my drift.
Perhaps the best aspect of working with Peter on this was that he already knew what I was on about. There wasn’t much direction needed at all, which I’ll admit makes life much easier for someone as fragmented and all over the place as myself.
At the top of the page you’ll see the new masthead, and below are a few of the new me’s. Great stuff, eh? If you like this, take a look at Peters Instagram for more examples of his work.
It would be really cool of you if you could show Peter your appreciations of the cracking work he’s done here by visiting his professional page and clicking the like-button on the right hand side. After appreciating his fantastic work! This is the link!
looks great!
Cheers Nick, it was a pleasure to work on fella!!!
Does look good. You should meet Mr Willis for a drink the next time you visit.
I certainly will!
And he even squeezed in our incredibly misbehaved corgi- Corgzilla
