Who are you, where do you live and what interests you?

MY NAME IS MATTEO “MICHAEL” PRETOLANI,
The nick name comes from my adoration to MICHAEL JORDAN, THE ONE&ONLY!!!

I like painting, sewing and taking photos.

Thinking back to your childhood, what were your most memorable or favourite clothes?

From my childhood memories I love an old peak coat of MY FATHER VITTORIO that he gave to me and at the time it was so big for me but I really loved because I thought of being Marlon Brando in “THE WATERFRONT”

How would you describe your style today, and what are your influences?

MY STYLE is a sort of cacophony way of thinking about clothes, I love mixing different things as DRIES VAN NOTEN does, he is MY MENTOR, him and MY FATHER VITTORIO.

How do you think others would describe your style and garments, do you get any reaction from friends and random strangers?

There are a lot of reactions from THE OTHER…but I don’t think about it…

When looking for clothes, what factors play into your selections?

For me the most important factor is THE EMOTION, THE VISUAL IMPACT.

When putting together an outfit combination, do you spend a lot of time considering it?

…only 5 minutes befor of waking up!!!

Most garmsmen will have a few “grail items” in their collection. Not to out you, but if your house is burning, which garments do you grab?

…definitely my SHOES COLLECTION.

Are you budget-conscious or spendthrift?

Budget conscious.

Having a large collection of clothes can lead to changing outfit on a daily basis, but if you were going to wear a single outfit the next two weeks, what would it be?

…a trench coat on a white heavy cotton T-shirt, a pair of blu chino pants and a pair of white JackPurcell.

What would you never wear?

I’m able of wear everything becouse I’m curious

What are your best tips for buying?

PARIS and NYC flea market

Do you have a dream garment you’d love to own?

An alpaca coat

Anyone that buys clothes will have made mistakes, what is your most memorable bad buy?

Two yeas ago a wrong size of BURWOOD CHURCH’s

Do you have any style icons, historic or current?

As I told U befor MY FATHER and DRIES VAN NOTEN

Who are your favourite Instagram profiles?

For sure THE SARTORIALIST and THOM BROWNE and ALL THE JAPANESE…AAALLLLL

Does your interest in clothes influence other aspects of your life?

Yes, in all my travel I research interest flea market and independents boutiques.
I always photograph combination of things that reminds me texture and fabrics.

If your clothes need repairs or alterations, do you do it yourself?

I do eversivo by my self; bottoms, stitching, patching.

How do you think trends such as denim and heritage style will evolve and survive? What will be the next big thing?

For me THE NEXT BIG THING IS BE YOURSELF WITH A GREAT WHITE T-SHIRT…BACK TO THE ROOTS.
GAME OVER!!!

Thank you for your Garmsman Michael!

“Do you have any style icons, historic or current?” The format of this line is incorrect.
Sorry for my OCD 😉 #notsorry
